OPENING OF THE IN SITU EXHIBITION “A TRANSYLVANIAN PUZZLE: RECONSTRUCTING MEDIEVAL CULTURE FROM MANUSCRIPT FRAGMENTS”

Thanks to the FRAGMED project – “A Transylvanian puzzle: reconstructing medieval culture from manuscript fragments of codices”, financed by SEE Grants 2014 – 2021 within the RO-CULTURE Program, implemented by the Ministry of Culture – Project Management Unit, Romanian Academy Cluj-Napoca Branch, in partnership with the Alba-Iulia National Union Museum and Bjerkaker LearningLab from Norway, fragments of medieval manuscripts smeared in the old schools of Cluj in the XVI-XVII centuries have been restored.

On this occasion, a new collection – Fragmenta codicum, whose pieces can be consulted under the Fragm. Cod. Lat.- was born at the Library of the Romanian Academy, Cluj-Napoca Branch.

The exhibition presents these fragments from the old manuscripts of Cluj and Transylvania in the fascinating context of the history of the medieval and early modern book. The public is expected starting on February 9, 2022, from Monday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., in compliance with all current health regulations. Entry is free.
